SAI - Systematic Antibiotics and Infection Control

The Systematic Antibiotics and Infection control system is a tool that enables you to follow up all infections and all antibiotic treatments in the hospital. It is a Windows based database system, which collects all information that can be linked to an infection or an antibiotic treatment.

The infections and the antibiotic treatments are connected to the surgical procedures and the microbiological tests. It is then possible to create reports that answer how the infections and the antibiotics relate to the surgical procedures, the microbes,the wards, the diagnoses, etc.

By using the SAI information system, infection cases are quickly and easily registered at the different departments, units, and wards. Hence, one always has access to current information on infections and antimicrobial treatments.

SAI as a part of the hospital IT system

Information from the other IT systems of the hospital is automatically linked to SAI. In this way, the users do not have to manually enter information about, e.g., ward periods, microbe finds, and operations. By linking these data, you get a complete picture of the infection situation and you can produce reports such as:

• Infections per surgical procedure, operation theater, etc.
• Infections per microbe type and antibiogram.
• What kind of antibiotics is used with each type of infection.
• Prophylactic antibiotic use per surgical procedure.

Extensive reporting

The reporting tool is very efficient at making different types of reports. It can produce specific reports with freely selectable columns and conditions. Thus, you get detailed reports of, for instance, microbes per ward. On the other hand, you can print overview reports of, for example, the use of antibiotics per infection class in the whole hospital.

You can also change the appearance of the reports by editing the sort order, the column order, and the titles. The reports can be stored as PDF- or HTML-files for distribution in the intra-net, or for sending as email attachments. The reports can also be copied directly to Excel or some similar application for creating graphical reports.
